How to Build a Valentine’s Day LOVE Sign – HomCo’s Young Builder Project of the Month

Looking for a fun and creative project for your little builder? This month, we’re making a Valentine’s Day LOVE sign using simple wood pieces and a little bit of creativity. This hands-on activity is perfect for young builders to practice hammering, assembling, and decorating!

Supplies You'll Need | Young Builder Kit

  • 1 large wooden board (for the base)
  • Smaller wood pieces for the letters:
    • "L": 1 large piece + 1 small piece
    • "V": 2 angled wood pieces
    • "E": 1 long piece, 2 medium-sized pieces, 1 short piece
  • 1 heart-shaped sticker for the "O"
  • Nails
  • Hammer

Steps to Assemble Your LOVE Sign

Step 1

Lay out the pieces so you know where you'll be hammering! Start by arranging your pieces on the board to spell out “LOVE.” The "L" is made with one large piece and a smaller one placed at the bottom.

The "O" will be represented by a sticker. Temporarily place the sticker where the "O" would be to save the space—but don't stick it quite yet! The "V" is formed with two slanted wood pieces. That leaves "E", which consists of a long piece on the left, two same-sized pieces for the top and bottom, and a shorter piece in the middle.

Step 2

Nail the letters in place.

Finally, peel and place the decorative sticker for the "O." You can put it straight, at an angle, or however you like!
