Welcome to another month of Young Builders! This month, Marissa from HomCo Lumber & Hardware shows young builders how to make their very own Tiki Toss Game. Let's dive in!

What You'll Need for This Project

  • Bottom piece with pre-drilled holes
  • Dowel
  • Top piece
  • 2 pieces of string
  • Scissors
  • 2 Rings
  • 2 Eye hooks
  • Hot glue gun (optional)
  • Stain or paint (optional)

Step 1: Attach Dowel to Bottom Piece

Begin by gathering all your materials and laying them out in your workspace. Add glue to the predrilled hole in the base piece. Then, push the dowel into the hole with the glue. Stick it so the holes are on the left and right sides.

Step 2: Assemble the Hooks

Add hooks into the predrilled holes. You'll gently turn the hook, making sure it faces up once you have it all the way in.

Step 3: Prepare the Top Piece

Take your eye hooks and twist into the top piece's predrilled holes. This part can be a little tricky so be sure to ask your parents if you need a little help! .

Step 4: String it Up

Thread strings through the eye bolts and tie knots to secure them. Your strings don't need to be perfect or even for this step. We can always cut them if needed! Then tie the little ring on the other end of the string. Watch Marissa in the video for help with the ring placement during this step!

Step 5: Attach the Top Piece to the Dowel

Take the top piece that you've added the eyehooks and string to and attach it with glue to the dowel. Get it as straight as you can. Then let the glue dry!

Step 6: Time to Play

Now comes the fun part! Once the glue has dried swing the string and see if you can attach the ring to the hook! Have fun!
