Another month, another exciting Young Builder adventure! This month, we’re crafting your very own coat hook. With a sprinkle of imagination and a dash of hands-on fun, we'll guide you through step-by-step instructions to create a one-of-a-kind hook for your coats. Get ready to unleash your inner artist and plenty of DIY magic! Ready to get started? Pick up this month’s Young Builder’s kit at HomCo, and let's get to work!

What You’ll Need for This Project

HomCo Young Builder Coat Hook Kit:

  • Wood Plank Containing 3 Holes
  • 3 Wood Dowels
  • 3 Wood Caps

Extras:

  • Wood Glue or Hot Glue Gun
  • Paint for Decorating!

Step #1: Fill Plank Holes with Glue and Attach Dowels

Marissa shows us how to fill the holes with glue. Do one hole at a time, being careful not to add too much glue. She then sticks a dowel into the hole with glue, pushing down strongly with her hand or a mallet.

Repeat this process for all 3 dowels.

Step 2: Attach Caps to Dowels

Watch Marissa as she lines the dowels with glue, again being careful not to add so much glue that it leaks out. Once the cap is lined with glue, attach it to the top of the dowel.

Repeat for all 3 dowels.

Step #3: Paint and Decorate Your Coat Hook

Once you've constructed your coat hook, it's time to add your unique style! Whether you envision a vibrant rainbow of colors, fun patterns, or a sleek, minimalist design, the choice is yours! So, grab your brushes, pick out your paint colors, and transform your coat hook!
