April Showers bring May flowers and what better way to appreciate the beautiful May Flowers than with your very own, homemade flowerbox! Not only will your kids have fun making their own flowerbox but every time they see it filled with beautiful flowers they will have a sense of pride! This month’s young builder project makes the perfect window decoration around the house, or serves as a great gift for other members of the family! Join us on the third Saturday of May, May 13th, for this fun event!

What You’ll Need for This Project

  • 3 larger pieces of wood
  • 2 small end pieces of wood
  • Nails

Step #1: Attach a small end piece to the bottom piece with 2 nails.

“Attach

Lay one of the long pieces of wood on the table. This will act as the bottom, or base, of the flower box. Line up one of the smaller end pieces so that the pre-drilled holes match the end of the baseboard and attach them with two nails so that they form a 90-degree angle.

Step #2: Attach a side piece to the bottom piece with 3 nails and to the attached end piece with 2 nails.

“Attach

Flip the baseboard and end piece so that they lay on their side. Take another longboard and line it up so that it creates a 90-degree angle with both the baseboard and the end piece. Attach the sideboard to the base board with three nails, and the end piece with two nails.

Step #3: Attach the other end piece to the attached side piece with 2 nails and then to the bottom piece with 2 nails

“Attach

Flip the flowerbox so that the side piece you just attached is lying on the table. Taking the last longboard. Repeat the process of attaching a side piece outlined in step 2.

Step #4: Attach the final side piece to each end piece with two nails and then to the bottom piece with 3 nails.

“Attach

Slot the remaining end piece into the open end and attach it via two nails through the baseboard and two nails through each side board.

Conclusion
