At HomCo, we love to encourage kids to get creative and have fun with crafts. That's why we're excited about our upcoming Young Builders Event, where kids can make their very own Thanksgiving serving tray. Not only is crafting with your kids a great way to bond and spend quality time together, but it's also a great opportunity for them to learn new skills and express their creativity. And what could be more special than a homemade serving tray to use during the Thanksgiving holiday? We hope you'll join us at HomCoSaturday, November 19th at 9 a.m. for this fun event!
What You’ll Need for This Project
- 3x Long Boards
- 2x Short Boards
- 20x Nails
- Hammer
Step #1: Space Short Boards Apart On Table
To start, take the two short boards and lay them on the table spaced apart. These short boards will be the handles of the tray that you will attach the baseboards to so make sure they are spread apart.
Step #2: Lay 3 Long Boards Running Across On Top
Next, take the three long boards and lay them across the short boards. Make sure you butt these baseboards up against each other so there are no cracks for food to fall through.
Step #3: Make Sure To Leave Space For Your Handles
Check to make sure that you left some space for your hands to grab the short boards you first laid on the table in step 1. Line the long boards up so that they end near the center of the handels.
Step #4: Nail The Base Boards To Handle Boards
Once you’ve positioned the boards, they are ready to be nailed. Start by nailing 3 nails into each side (6 nails total) of the top baseboard. Next Nail 4 nails into each side (8 nails total) of the middle baseboard. This board gets more nails than the other because it will be bearing the majority of the weight. Finally, nail 3 nails into each side (6 nails total) of the last baseboard.
Step #5: Decorate
Now that your serving tray is nailed together it is up to you to decorate it however you would like best! Paint it with Thanksgiving colors like orange and brown, or get creative by maying a handprint turkey!
Conclusion
Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and food. What better way to show your loved ones how much you care than by serving them a delicious meal on a homemade tray? Not only will your children have fun crafting the tray, but they'll also be proud to know that they helped to make Thanksgiving dinner even more special. And when the holiday is over, the tray will serve as a lovely reminder of all the happy memories you made together. So mark your calendars and join us for this month's Young Builders Event on Saturday, November 19th at 9 a.m.
